Welcome, My name is Jeff Dill and I am proud to be associated with the Illinois Professional Firefighters Association. I have been asked by Terry Cox to offer some tips on how our firefighters can cope when faced with behavioral and emotional situations that occur while working the job. These apply from career firefighters, to paid on call, to volunteer firefighters.
Each month I will address different issues that can, and do, affect us both physically and emotionally. You will be given insight on such things as depression, addictions, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. We will also review stressors in our lives, which manifests into addictions such as alcohol, drugs or gambling. Another factor is our families. Our spouses and children might be feeling the impact of our jobs but either doesn’t realize it or even how do deal with it.
If you have feed back then please do not hesitate to contact me at jeff@csff.info
